I like 1095, for the amount of work with knives I do, this steel does a very fine job. Easy to touch up in the field or at home. Forgot about the Tops BOB, 1095, is there better and more expensive steel, yes.

In fairness I've only sharpend one of my GECs, a #12 t'pick, and didn't find it difficult to get a good edge on it with a Lansky system.
